Tests, grades and surveys provide important data for schools, but they can’t capture the full story of a student, a family, or a community. That’s why Franklin Elementary Principal Constance Daw took the time to talk to parents about data that is harder to capture - but no less important.

During this year’s annual school open house, Daw asked Franklin parents about their hopes and dreams for their kids and how the school could best support them. She asked for their ideas on how to strengthen the school community. She asked about what Franklin means to them and their kids. All the conversations were recorded to share with Franklin’s staff to help guide their decisions and remind them of the invaluable role that a school can play for a child, a family and a community. We are grateful to hear their words and learn about their experiences.
