Franklin students compete in school-wide spelling bee
Franklin Elementary students took to the stage recently to compete in a school-wide spelling bee. Thirty-two students, first through fifth grade, stood before the whole school (and some visiting parents) and did their best to spell some pretty tough words. The final two competitors were second-grader Jonah Buter and fifth-grader Trinity Green, and Jonah ended up the winner.
Franklin staff plan to make the school spelling bee an annual event. Principal Constance Daw says this kind of event gives kids valuable experience in setting goals and overcoming fears. Congratulations to Jonah, and to all the Franklin students who had the courage to stand up and give it their best shot!
